'Gukurahundi' meetings commence

The National Peace and Reconciliation Commission on Thursday held its first Matabeleland South Stakeholders meeting starting now at Gwanda District Club.

The stakeholders meetings are meant to consult the citizens on the challenges they first in te post-Independence political disturbances.

Speaking recently in Matabeleland North the Chairpeson of the NPRC Rtd Jusice Sello Nare told the citizens to speak freely about what they faced during Gukurahundi.

"I want to encourage the people to take part in the outreach programme and talk freely about Gukurahundi and their experiences so that we progress together.."

Gukurahundi claimed an estimated 20 000 citizens of Matabeleland and Midlands Provinces.
